I cut my own hair.

Remember that time on St. Patrick’s Day when you decided to cut your own hair…

OH wait. Never mind, that was me.

When I told my mom that I cut my own hair, she was mostly thankful it turned out better than my first attempt at cutting my own hair. Picture 12 year old Amanda at my grand parents’ house, walking up the stairs as my Mamie shouts “What did you do?!”, to which I replied multiple times “Nothing, I have NO IDEA what happened.” There truth was, not 5 minutes earlier, I had taken a large pair of light blue scissors to my long natural brown hair and gave myself the most uneven bangs you could ever imagine.

She eventually found the scissors and strands of hair tossed behind her laundry machine. OOPS. Sorry Mamie!!

But now, I’m all grown up… and I DO WHAT I WANT.

But seriously, I did my research, gathered many tips from a few decent YouTube videos, until I decided I was ready to take the plunge. Well, with a little St. Paddy’s liquid courage…

And guess what?! I love it. It’s not perfect, and my hairdresser might cry when I go see her. But it works. My dead ends are gone, and my hair is nice and bouncy again.

THE AFTERMATH:

It’s not so bad, right?! Haha I also dyed my hair black last night, mostly because my roots were coming in strong, and black was the only color I had laying around the house. I really want to try giving myself a caramel balayage… Maybe that I will try documenting that whole experiment…

I hope all you lovely creative souls have an amazing week. xo

Ivanka Trump Heels

I’m still glowing from the amazing deal I stumbled upon this weekend.

I was shopping with my mom and sister at our local Winners (which we are ALL obsessed with!) and I found these Ivanka Trump leopard heels on clearance for…

Wait for it… $19! Just look at these beauties, how could I resist?

I honestly couldn’t believe my eyes. AND they just happened to be in my size – it’s clear, it was meant to be!

I also went to Winners with the intention of finding a faux-fur white rug for my bedroom. I needed something to put at the foot of my bed. I found a beautiful rug for just $24.99. You can see it in the picture above.

I LOVE Winners. That is all.

Don’t forget to checkout my new Society6 shop! I will be adding a new artwork by the end of the week!

Have a lovely Tuesday!

Valentine’s Day Outfit Ideas

Is Valentine’s Day mostly a gimmick? Yes.

Am I a sucker for playing into it? Potentially.

Will I continue to participate? Absolutely.

I’m not ashamed, I love Valentine’s Day! Well, not always… trust me I was once a hater. But for the past 2 Valentine’s Day with Nick, I truly fell in love with the tradition we created: cuddling in the morning, making breakfast and watching movies all day, then getting dressed up and having some champagne before heading to our favorite February 14th restaurant.

Side note: I promise to share how embarrassing my last Valentine’s Day was. I honestly don’t know how he still agrees to takes me out in public. Haha…

This year I’m on a budget, which means, no mega-splurging on a new outfit like I usually would. But I did put together a few budget-friendly options that would include a mix of new and already-owned pieces.

Let me know which outfit you think should be the winner! Also include any accessory suggestions you might have for your favorite option. Accessorizing is always the hardest part for me.

Outfit #1
Total Cost: $0.00

I don’t usually wear red on Valentine’s Day, but I kind of want to this year. I love the simplicity of the dress along with the bold black pieces.

Outfit #2
Total Cost: $200.00

Okay, this is definitely not budget friendly – but it’s soooo perfect I had to include it!

Outfit #3
Total Cost: $50

I’ve been so into maxi’s lately, and this dress is just so dreamy!

I’m sure we can all agree that packing is exhausting…

I mean, so much work and planning is involved! You have to plan outfits, bring extras, make sure you have enough fancy dresses… oh wait… what about shoes? After finally breaking it down to a small collection of 4 pairs of shoes, I now realize I have no room for the 15 bottles of products I HAVE to bring. The horror!

Or maybe it’s just me…

But there are fun parts, such as, allowing myself to do bit a lot of shopping! Luckily for me (and Nick! haha) a lot of the outlet stores in my city still had a ton of summer items on clearance, so I was able to get a bunch of new things at ridiculously good prices! What’s In My Bag – Office Edition

I should begin by stating that in no way, shape, or form, is my bag crumb-less, without stray mints or random receipts. Only on the best of days can my bag be found without a half-eaten granola bar and 1 lonely mitten, because who the hell knows what I did with the other one.

Now, it’s time to explore the deep dark secrets of my bag. Well… not exactly, this being the Office Edition of my What’s in my bag?, it’s much more tamed than it would be on the weekend or my way to the movie theater (because, hidden snacks required!).

The Bag:

ALDO Shoes Canada (no longer in stock)

I’ve had this same hand-me-down handbag my sister gave me for over a year. I love it, it’s black, simple and carries everything I need!

The Necessities:

What's In My Bag

  1. Makeup Bag: Tender Love and Carry
  2. Wallet: Betsy Johnson
  3. Sunnies: Oscar De La Renta
  4. Notebook: Hilroy
  5. Watch: Bizou
  6. Lip Balm: EOS
  7. Pen: Pentel R.S.V.P (hands down favorite pen!)
  8. Mascara: Benefit They’re Real Mascara
  9. Headphones: Apple Earbuds

I never go anywhere without my notebook and pen, you never know when I good idea will come to you, and I’m a big fan of taking notes by hand instead of electronically – it’s always flowed better for me that way.

However, as much as I love my current bag, I’m officially on the hunt for a new handbag! I’ve narrowed it down to 2 bags, both are from ALDO and both black, obviously!

PONTINIA ALDO Shoes $95.00 CAD

COVAL ALDO Shoes $50.00 CAD

Decisions, decisions…

Let me know which bag you prefer, I need help because I’m terrible at making decisions!
